The Christie's London auction " Valuable Illuminated Manuscripts, Printed Books and Autograph Letters", held on November 28, 2001, achieved a sale total of £2,446,640. The auction featured 84 lots, including several significant manuscripts and early printed books. The sale included a range of items, from individual illuminated leaves to complete manuscripts and rare printed books. The auction featured several notable items, including illuminated manuscripts such as a German prayer book that sold for £358,650, a Book of Hours for the use of Sarum in Latin, French, and Middle English which realized £116,650, and a Book of Hours for the use of Utrecht in Dutch, also selling for £116,650. Other significant illuminated manuscripts included a Bible in Latin (£38,240), an Epistolary in Latin (£32,900), and Peter Comestor's Historia Scholastica in Latin (£33,460). These results demonstrated a robust market for rare books and high-quality illuminated manuscripts, with multiple items surpassing £100,000.
