Most entry level guitars come with ceramic magnet pickups which are not the best for Telecasters. Alnico 5 magnets have a more classic 60's sound with slightly more defined low end and less mids while still holding clarity and sparkle.

How different magnets affect the sound of the pickup:

Most people prefer A2 magnets paired with Maple fretboards and A5 magnets paired with Rosewood fretboards as this gives better balance across the tonal spectrum.
