Circa 1910 Art Nouveau Silver on Pewter Centrepiece Basket.
An ornate antique silver-plated decorative centerpiece basket. The design strongly reflects Art Nouveau influence, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. It features openwork lattice sides and tall, symmetrical scrolled handles that rise elegantly on both ends, all supported by four curved feet. The metal shows a lovely weathered patina, suggesting genuine age.
The panels to both sides are embellished with floral relief detailing, while the flowing, organic curves throughout the piece are characteristic of Art Nouveau design. A decorative grille motif beneath the crest further enhances its elaborate appearance. Overall, the basket seems intended as a decorative centerpiece, perhaps used for fruit, calling cards, or as a formal table display item, showcasing fine craftsmanship and artistic metalwork. There appears to be a stamp to one of the feet which I am unable to identify (please see images). A handsome, quality piece.
