Cladostemon kirkii Seeds

Common Name: Tonga-kierie

Cladostemon kirkii or Tonga-kierie, as it is commonly known, is a deciduous tree that grows up to 6 m in height and has yellowish grey bark.

It bears very attractive white cream flowers that are yellow on the underside of the petals and has dark green veins down the mid section of each petal.

The sweetly scented flowers are followed by gourd-shaped, horrible smelling fruit.

It's worth mentioning that the fruit  only give of a bad odour once they are detached from the tree. The form of the tree is attractive and the flowers sweetly scented, which makes this small tree an excellent candidate to be used as a garden subject in warm areas. It is only necessary to remember not to touch the fruits when they are present.
