Being marked "Clarice Cliff, Bizarre, Newport," underneath, predates this jug to 1935. I bought this jug from a reputable auction house some years ago. Apart from the inside being virtually black with grime, which I found impossible to wash off, I did not suspect anything untoward about it, until I placed it in a bleach bath overnight in an attempt at shifting the dirt. To my horror I discovered the bleach also removed some of the glazing to the outside and underneath. Unpicking the flaky glazing, I discovered the jug had been restored. Please study all the pictures carefully, including the one of the inside and underside. It is possible to display this jug in such a manner that the restoration is not noticeable, but on closer inspection, it is conspicuous. It stands 16cm tall. Please add R48 for postage.
