CLASSIC ENGLISH VINTAGE SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND 9CT YELLOW GOLD RING. 375

This vintage piece from England is beautifully crafted with a classic combination of a dark blue oval faceted sapphire surrounded by 6 small round cut diamonds. The natural gemstones are all claw set in 9ct yellow gold; the gold shank is slim, thickening over the shoulders slightly where it forks to support the bottom of the ring head as well as the top, ending at the same height as the claws holding the diamonds. The central sapphire solitaire is 0,38 carats. It is a particularly dark blue and has been set into elongated yellow gold claws to stand proud above the surface of the ring head, creating a double raise. The total height above the finger is 6mm. The six diamonds are small and have been deep claw set into a frame of white gold in an "illusion setting". I have had the ring jeweller tested and authenticated. The ring is a reasonably good weight (2,1 grams) and it bears the hallmarks 375 for 9 carat gold, the Birmingham Assay office mark, the jeweller signature, DIA for real diamonds and the date mark for 1995. The deep dark blue of the sapphire combined with the white sparkle of the diamonds and white gold offset by the warm yellow gold is a classic colour combination. Its a nice little piece of collectable English vintage jewellery.
