(This pic is not this vehicle, but it is the exact same model)
This vehicle was bought by my grandfather in 1964, I still have the original purchasing documents (I was technically the second owner). Although it was bought in '64, it's a 63' model, as they were still manufactured in Germany at the time and off-loaded at Durban. Unfortunately when I received the car when in school, I was too poor and impatient to pay the outstanding license fees that my family didn't bother to pay for some years. I had it registered as a Code 3 then, current license expired 30 Nov 2011 (note added: license paid 15/12, valid until Dec 2012). I'm not sure about it, but I was told that it can be registered as an original again if all the backdated licensing fees are paid.
I drove the vehicle daily until 2005, when the starter gave some trouble. I moved out of Pretoria then, it's been standing since. Whoever buys it will need to flush the tank & engine, fix the starter, buy new tyres, service it, etc. before she'll be ready to drive. A new paint job will help, she was standing in the sun at one stage. It's still the original engine, and was still in good running order then. Odometer is on 1168, it zeroed for the first time in 2004 - meaning the true milage is only about 101168 miles. Right back door was bumped, I bought a replacement but never put it in (three extra doors in total). All the door rubbers needs replacing and there is rust on some of the doors. The seats were refurbished to original leather look red. Interior still looks good. All the chrome wheel rings and hub caps are still in tact - one of these hub caps were repaired, but still looks okay.
No shipping fees, the purchaser will need to collect the vehicle him/herself (before 15 January 2012, I understand it might be an issue over December to relocate it). The vehicle is in storage in Pretoria (area behind the jail in Pretorius street), it will be better to collect it with a low-bed truck - I towed it there, but I'm not sure if the tyres will last for another trip like that. Payment can be done via EFT or BOBpay, whichever purchaser chooses - car will be released upon confirmation of payment.
The vehicle is obviously sold voetstoots. Current licensing papers and original purchase documents will be handed over when deal is concluded and upon collection. The vehicle is registered in my name, I just need to get a copy of the NATIS, should have it by 15 January 2012.
It's a pity to let her go, but I don't have the time or money to fix her, but I'm sure there is someone willing to restore her to her former glory.
