CLASSY VINTAGE BIG SIZE AVIA WATCH -- NOT WORKING

 Extremely nice vintage Avia mens watch from 1940's in great condition for its age. This watch has been in storage for a very long time and needs nothing more than a service to get it to its glorious self. Its 15 jewel Swiss made movement has no issues as its balance wheel runs freely and it sets the time as it should except that it was left alone for far to long. It has a 3 piece case with a st/steel back that measures a very nice 35 mm including crown and heavy rabbit ear lugs. Dial is in wonderful condition with its blued hands and sub second dial. Crystal in great condition. The winder was left out when I set it to 10.10 but in following image it is set back in.

The company started in 1887 in Switzerland, making quality watches at an affordable price. The brand name Avia was registered some sources report 1910 others report 1937. During World War 2 they even made watches for the US military. They were pioneers in the Quartz revolution and there quartz watches were regarded as a great success and a premium product in the field. However by the 1980's quartz technology had become widespread and inexpensive and Avia lost there dominance in the quartz watch field and ultimately were bought up by the Fossil group who still sell watches under the Avia label.

This 70 plus year old bold Avia watch which has some wear after all these years, proudly shouts classy and vintage as it should.
