Hand made clay sculpture of village lady carrying her baby on her back in the traditional way wrapped in a blanket
52 cm in height and 30cm wide from elbow to elbow
The clay is from Malawi .This sculpture is hand made and wood fired in an open flame in the old traditional way.The sculpted piece is placed on an open section of ground & wood is packed around it & then set alight and this is how this piece of art was fired.

Born:Malawi 13.03.1965
Background of artist:From the age of 9 years Harry learnt by watching the traditional art of clay sculpting from his grandfather.He comes from the village of Machinjiri which is in the southern district of Zomba
Harry is inspired when has visions of these peoples faces in his subconscious
He currently resides in Cape Town & goes to Malawi a few times a year from where he still sources his clay
The statue is hand painted by Harry once i have chosen the ones that appeal to me
His pieces make wonderful gifts i have had clients take them back to the USA,Australia & the UK .
