Clematopsis is an African genus of around 18 species within the buttercup family Ranunculaceae and is composed of mostly herbaceous perennials with erect stems, becoming more or less woody towards the base of the plant. The leaves of most are opposite, simple or pinnately compound. The flowers are bisexual, solitary or few at the ends of branches.

It is closely related to Clematis from which it is said to have evolved. The most important requirement for successful cultivation is a well-drained, humus-rich, permanently cool soil with good water retention.

Prune old twiggy growth in spring and propagate the species from seeds sown in spring. 

Clematopsis scabiosifolia commonly known as Pluimbossie in Afrikaans and Feather Duster in English is a very attractive shrub that grows to 1m in height.

It forms annual shoots from a woody rootstock and is covered with silvery hairs.

It has pinnate leaves & pink drooping Clematis-like scented flowers during summer.

Clematis kirkii, Clematis villosa var. kirkii and Clematopsis kirkii are all synonyms for Clematopsis scabiosifolia.
