A SWISS MADE VINTAGE 1950S CLMAX MECHANICAL LADIES COCKTAIL WATCH. HAS A NICE FIXO-FLEX EXPANDABLE STRAP MADE IN WEST GERMANY. CAN SET TIME AND WINDUP. GOOD WORKING CONDITION.
 
Cocktail watches also called Evening Watches became popular in the 1920s for high society ladies to use as a timepiece and as a statement piece. Smaller in size they were often bejewelled. Today the watches are still coveted for their beautiful craftsmanship and quality - the skill used in making early examples simply cannot be rivalled by modern machine-making watches.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement by Adolf Schild.
A Schild SA was a watch movement manufacturer based in Grenchen, Solothurn in Switzerland. His company supplied ebauche (blank movements) to watch making companies around Europe. They operated very successfully from 1896 right through until the 1970s, when quartz movements became more popular.
