The Soul of the Waterberg. African Sky Publishing, Johannesburg. A compendium of geology, archaeology, history, ecology, fauna and flora, with interesting anecdotes and biographical sketches.

The vast Waterberg Range has long been a fabled wilderness area in South Africa. At 1 800 million years of age, this mountain range is one of the oldest in the world, being much older than other well-known ranges like the 50 million-year-old Himalaya Mountains, the Andes Mountains and the Rocky Mountains. This ancient land with its great biodiversity was drifting ever closer to destruction until it was declared an International Biosphere Reserve in 2001. It now ranks as one of the natural resource jewels of the world, and is becoming an ever-increasing tourism destination. Yet, little detailed information is available on it in published form. This has now been rectified by Clive Walker and J du P Bothma in the first in-depth description of the Waterberg.
