Clivia gardenii, commonly known as Bush Lily or Major Garden's Clivia, is a South African perennial plant with orange flowers that hang downwards. It thrives in shade and partial sun, forming clumps of strap-shaped leaves. The flowers are slender and tubular with green tips. The plant also produces red, fleshy berries. Leaves: Bright green, shiny, and strap-shaped, forming clumps. Flowers: Slender, tubular, pendulous (hanging downwards) orange flowers with green tips. Fruit: Decorative, fleshy, red berries that persist on the plant until the next flowering season. Growing Conditions: Light: Thrives in shade or partial sun. Soil: Prefers well-drained soil, as it is a shallow-rooted forest plant. Watering: Moderately, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Maintenance: Low maintenance, but benefits from being split every 4-5 years. Wildlife Benefits: Attracts a variety of insects to the garden.
