THIS A BATCH OF 6 ROCK EGGS INCLUDING TWO BANDED AGATE EGGS THE ONE BEING BEAUTIFULLY METAMORPHED. THEN WE HAVE A STUNNING PURPLISH LEPIDOLITE EGG that displays a magnificent deep plum and lilac colour with amazing bright sparkling flecks if you look closely. THREE OTHER ROCK EGGS ONE WITH AN INTERESTING PATCHY GREY COLOUR.
NOTE I HAVE ALSO TWO VINTAGE ROCK AND MINERAL COLLECTIONS (ONE WITH CUTE MINI SIZED EGGS) FROM THE 1970S ON AUCTION THIS WEEK. ALSO THREE MALACHITE EGGS AND SOME OTHER BANDED ROCK EGGS INCLUDING ONE EGG MADE FROM BONE.

BANDED AGATE AND JASPER:
What is the difference between Agate, Chalcedony and Jasper? Quartz has a chemical formula made up of SiO2, or Silicon Dioxide. Quartz comes in many forms, and Jasper, Agate and Chalcedony are actually all forms of microcrystalline Quartz. Microcrystalline (or Cryptocrystalline) means the crystal structure is too small to see with the naked eye, a microscope is required. Microcrystalline Quartz is separated into opaque or translucent. If it is opaque, it is generally referred to as a Jasper in the gemology/mineral collection world. If it is translucent, ie it lets some light pass through, then it is a Chalcedony. If it is a banded or striped Chalcedony, then it is an Agate. Natural agates are typically white, grey, and yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, but shades of blue and green are sometimes also observed. Jasper is usually red, yellow, brown in color the red color is due to iron(III) inclusions.
LEPIDOLITE:
Lepidolite is a rare lilac coloured mineral belonging to the mica family. This mineral is famed for being rich in lithium, but it is manganese inclusions which cause the pink, purple, and red hues characteristic of Lepidolite. This stunning purple stone was originally discovered in the 1700s, where it was named 'Lilalite' because of its lovely lilac colouring.
