From what I have been researching this type of ‘Tiffany’ buckle was a well-planned hoax. They started appearing on auctions and outdoor markets in the early to mid-1960’s. Despite NOT being authentic, at one time they were fetching $400 (R4238.20) and more to own them. Now they seem to average between $20 (R211.91)-$50 (R529.77) with some die-hards still trying to fetch $100 (R1059.55) plus. I have no way of telling when this particular one was produced. There are so many variations I am finding it difficult to give any more information.
Despite all the shenanigans associated to this particular type of buckle it’s still a desirable item to have.
