The SPARTAN has dual pocket clips to assure ambidextrous carry and for quick draw opening, it features a thumb plate that can be used to open the knife like a conventional "one hand opener" or be snagged on the edge of a pocket during the draw stroke and opened automatically.

The black contoured injection molded handle is made of Grivory and again echoes the Kopis with its deeply hooked ends to keep the knife hand no matter what you're doing.  It features a strong lock back spring with the Tri-Ad locking mechanism that is almost impossible to overcome, dual pocket clips (for left/right hand use), steel liners and a lanyard hole.

Cold Steel's aim is to produce a folding Kopis scaled down.  The result is a monster of a folding knife.  Designed by Andrew Demko.

BACKGROUND:

The Spartan echoes the ancient Kopis in its handle.  It's designed to help the hand resist the pull of centrifugal force and to retard forward momentum when stabbing, or backward movement when hammering or smashing with it's pommel.  Injection moulded out of Grivory with steel liners for strength, it's heavily contoured for comfort and features irregular fluting and a heavily textured surface finish for an exceptional effective grip.

Modeled after the ancient Kopis swords of the Spartans, the giant AUS-8A stainless blade has a big belly and a characteristic recurve, an acute point and looks a little similar to a Kukri.
