COLLECTABLE MAHOGANY WOOD GLOBE WITH INLAYS

This is a very nice collectable item for a mantelpiece in any home. I haven't seen many of these around, to be honest. There may be, I am not sure. I tried researching this particular piece, but could not come up with anything. This was gifted to me about 30 years ago. (My apologies for my reflection in some photos, as I used my cell camera).

The mantelpiece itself:

It is made of durable Mahogany wood and well preserved, as can be seen from different angles.

The inlays are as follows:

Rotatable glass Earth globe:

Beautiful condition with no damage or scratches. Eye catching.

Hygrometer: The Hygrometer measures humidity in % and is marked from 0 to 100, and indicates Very dry, Normal & Humid. Also in very nice condition & working perfectly. (No battery needed).

Thermometer:

The thermometer measures in degrees Celsius as well as Fahrenheit, and is marked from -10 to -13 °F to 130 °F and -20 to -25 ºC to 55 ºC also works perfectly fine. Tested indoors and outdoors, with an obvious vast difference notable on the dial. (No battery needed). The drop in temperature under the air con for 15 minutes (22 to 19 ºC ) is seen.   

Farah Japanese Quartz watch:

Japan started manufacturing watches in 1896. This is not a wrist watch, something I personally havent seen before. Tried searching the object, the closest I came was a Farah pocket watch. It has Roman numerals, and is working and keeping time very nicely. I had it cleaned and a new battery installed on 2023-04-11 at a local watchmaker. Been monitoring time keeping since then. It is Japanese movement made quartz, and may not have the Swiss flair and looks, but definitely built with precision, accuracy and cost-efficiency in mind, and less focus on looks. 

Note: Uses a 377 button battery (equivalent of SR66, LR66, AG4, SG4, SR626W) for future replacements.

Overall a very beautiful collectable item for exhibition in any home.
