The Kiseru, a symbol of Japanese history and culture, was used to smoke the fine, hair-like kizami tobacco and also employed as a defensive weapon.
This example, measuring 33cm in length, has a wooden (possibly bamboo) Rau, or stem.
It is of indeterminate age, but shows some wonderful patina, while still being in excellent condition. A must-have for collectors of Japanese cultural items and/or smoking paraphernalia!
