COLLECTABLE VINTAGE DIAMOND YELLOW AND WHITE GOLD RING WITH HINGED 'DROP DOWN' SHANK WITH SECRET "I LOVE YOU" MESSAGE. 375

This piece was found at a favourite vintage jeweller in London; English jewellers went through a phase of secret love messages in their jewellery, and this piece is a lovely example of this. The vintage ring is crafted in 9ct yellow gold, and features a hinged drop down yellow gold second "shank" inside the outer shank, with the words "I love you" and a small heart engraved thereon. The shank is 3mm wide on the front of the ring, narrowing slightly to 2mm at the back of the shank. The double layer of gold in the front half of the ring measures 2mm in thickness. The ring head section features a row of round cut diamonds claw set in 9ct white gold, and then dropped into the 9ct yellow gold to create lovely contrast. It is quite solid - 2,97 grams - and the pedigree of the piece is evident in it's many hallmarks: the Sheffield Assay Mark, the jeweller's signature, DIA indicating authenticated diamonds and .10 for the diamond carats. Quite a special piece, and very collectable!
