COLLECTED POEMS 19091962
T. S. Eliot
Faber and Faber Limited, London, 1970 (Fifth Impression)

Condition: Fair to good. Hardback, blue cloth boards with gilt title to spine. No dust jacket present. Binding firm, pages evenly toned with age. Gift inscription. Sporadic underlining and annotations on last blank page (student type). A solid and elegant copy of a seminal volume in 20th-century poetry.

About the Book
This definitive collection gathers over five decades of T. S. Eliots poetry, including Prufrock and Other Observations, The Waste Land, Ash-Wednesday, and Four Quartets. It charts the poets evolution from modernist fragmentation and irony to the meditative and theological harmonies of his later verse.

Few collections have shaped modern literature as decisively. Here are the rhythms of spiritual desolation and renewal, the struggle for meaning in the ruins of modernity, and the poets lifelong search for order amid chaos all written in language that fuses austerity with musical grace.

About the Author
Thomas Stearns Eliot (18881965) was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and educated at Harvard, the Sorbonne, and Oxford. A poet, critic, and playwright, Eliot became one of the central figures of literary modernism. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature (1948), his work profoundly influenced English-language poetry through its philosophical depth, religious insight, and technical innovation.
