Offered for sale is a collectible MCM Midcentury modern small 1950's West German atelier/studio carafe/jug made by the company Akru Keramik ie Alfred Krupp Keramik and distributed /exported by the company Wekara. This stylish jug is made from a red bodied stoneware which is high fired also known as Klinker ware and which is decorated with a hand cut, notched and gauged motif which beautifully accentuates the bulbous shape of the jug . The brick red colour of the jug which is visible on the neck/collar and handle of the jug and the base and foot ring is the natural colour of the clay which is bisque fired and unglazed. The body of the jug is painted in an off white glaze with the hand cut motif picked out and accented with a dark brown umber glaze. The jug has incised and printed marks on the base viz Wekara, Germany and a production number . The size is 10cm height ; width incl handle 10.5cm ; base 5cm width.
