Collectible Austrian Orivit Art Nouveau centrepiece/ jardiniere brass with glass liner circa 1900

Offered for sale is a stylish and collectible  large centrepiece made by Orivit Austria at the turn of the 20th Century circa 1900-1910. Orvit produced decorative and functional metal ware similar to the better known Wmf designs and contemporary with Wmf Germany . They designed items made in a wide variety of metals including pewter, silver plate, brass, and gilt metal. This item was probably intended as a jardiniere or fruit bowl. It comprises an oval shaped frame in brass, open on the bottom,   with elegant bun feet , and two hooped handles .The sides of the centrepiece are decorated with an oval  cartouche in the middle. The upper and lower borders of the centrepiece are decorated with a reeded border and the lower rim with an additional border with a lappit like repeat pattern. The makers name Orivit  is stamped on the bottom rim. The piece has the original lead crystal glass  liner which is still in good condition.
