Offered for sale is a collectible, hard to find Goedewaagen Gouda vase in the Kers pattern dating to the 1930s Art Deco period before hand painted decoration was temporarily reduced halted in favour of the more abstract airbrushed designs of the Crisis period. The design is attributed to Willem Hendrik Van Norden who was the chief designer and decorator for Goedewaagen in the 1930's and early 1940's. The vase is earthenware with a glossy finish and hand painted in a bright polychrome palette of enamels; the motif seems to be based on a stylized interpretation of the nasturium , bright coloured flowers and foliage with swirling linear decorative embellishments. The interior of the vase is glazed in turquoise . The base has hand painted marks the initials GG for Goedewaagen Gouda, the full factory name a serial number for the shape 380 and the design/pattern code name which is Kers (Cherry).
