Collectible Italian Alessi corkscrew Alessandro M

Offered for sale is a stylish and collectible corkscrew /bar accessory made by the famous Alessi manufactory and designed by the eminent Milanese architect and designer Alessandro Mendini. This item has the brand name Alessandro M and is allegedly a stylized self portrait of the designer. The corkscrew is made from a hardened plastic called Polyamide and chrome plated Zamak for the face/winder. The trunk of the figured is in a rasberry red  plastic for the upper portion and a cream coloured trunk which houses the corkscrew. The manufacturers name Alessi  is printed on the base . This item probably dates to the 1990's or early 2000's and is a witty riposte to the Anna M series corkscrew which has a feamle figure as the motif . The creature -object is a good example of the witty, functional  trademark and hybrid art-designs for which Alessi is world famous.  The item is in good working order.
