Offered for sale is a collectible small stoppered decanter in press molded glass designed by the eminent Swedish artist and glassware designer Eric Hoglund (1932-1998). Hoglund worked for Boda Glassworks in Sweden (later Kosta Boda) for 10 years and received recognition early in his career as a talented ground breaking designer with fresh and innovative ideas. This decanter is from a range called "People decanters" which was commissioned by an American luxury department store chain Neiman Marcus in 1957 ; the decanters originally contained bath salts or shampoo. This range was hugely popular and remained in production 1957-1965. The decanters were made in various sizes and colours and depict stylized male and female figures with the faces stamped and molded on the stoppers and the cone shaped bodies decorated with spindly arms with clasped hands. The decanters were not made in Sweden however but in Italy in or near the town of Empoli.
This green female decanter is listed separately from a matching blue decanter with a male face with moustache .
