Offered for sale is a stylish and elegant West German ceramic jug/pitcher made by the little known company Graflich Ortenburg in the city of Tambach Germany. The jug is slip cast made from a dark brown umber coloured clay with a glossy and eye catching two tone fat lava glaze in tones of cobalt blue and acquamarine with flashes of mauve. The base of the jug has impressed serial number , being the production code for the shape/size of the pitcher. Graflich Ortenbach Midcentury decorative ceramics are known for their fine glazes mostly monochrome bright coloured gloss glazes and occasionally mixed colour two tone glazes with the fat lava /drip glaze effect which is now highly collectible. The forms are mostly square or rectangular with softened rounded corners and an elegant simplicity to the design. Postage is R100 via Postnet or R140 for courier delivery to major cities in SA.
