Comfrey is one of the most versatile companion plants that you can add to your vegetable or fruit garden.
Not only do the roots loosen the soil provides potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen.
The leaves heat up your compost pile and enriches it with minerals essential for root, leaf and fruit development.
Comfrey easily grows from a rhizome when places in the soil and lightly covered. First the roots form, so don't be too hasty to dig them up after a week if you don't see anything. They are busy growing and will sprout leaves soon. Depending on the heat, they do grow slower in winter, but can be added to your garden at any time of the year.
Leaves are also popular to use in skin products. Roots are used to make a poultice to heal bones.
