Comfrey is a plant which contains poisonous chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids but some people use the leaf, root and root-like stem to make medicine.

Even with safety concerns, comfrey is used by mouth for stomach ulcers, heavy menstrual periods, diarrhea, bloody urine, cough, bronchitis, cancer and chest pain.  It is also used as a gargle for gum disease and sore throat.

Comfrey is applied to the skins as a poultice for ulcers, wounds, muscle soreness, bruises, rheumatoid arthritis, varicose veins, gout and fractures.

Comfrey is a multi-purpose use plant, as you it can mend bones, heal wounds, used as plant fertilizer, pollinator attractor like Bumblebees, bees, wasps and solitary bees.
