This book is a study of a group of composers who are living and working in South Africa today. Seven chapters provide brief biographies, a general appraisal of style and analyses of some major works of the following people: Arnold van Wyk, Hubert du Plessis, Stefans Grove, Graham Newcater, Peter Klatzow, Roelof Temmingh and Carl van Wyk. An eighth and final chapter presents a survey of a younger generation of composers, all under 40, who have already made their mark at home or abroad.
