If you know that there is more to collecting stamps than simply duplicating the catalogue……

 

Union of South Africa.  One Shilling Blackish Brown Centre Extended Control Block with 5 Figure Sheet Number in Black. 

 

 

This block is interesting for a couple of reasons:  Firstly, the Control Block is listed in the SACC, but the normal pair is not listed!  Secondly, it shows the constant variety “Defective Outer Frame Line” on bottom left stamp.  Thirdly, only one printing (of the numerous printings for this issue) had 5-Figure Black Sheet Numbers.  Fourthly, due to the very deep etching of the Cylinder Numbers, one of the Cylinder Numbers are smudged.

 

Catalogue Value impossible to calculate but the minimum would be R850-00 + R810-00 = R1 660-00 (with variety ignored).  Superb Unmounted Mint. 

Due to the fact that I am offerring more than one block for sale, the sheet number on the block that you will receive might differ to the one illustrated.
