POLAROID SX-&) SLIMLINE CAMERA (1973-1983): The SX-70 is a folding single lens reflex Land camera which was produced by the Polaroid Corporation from 1972 to 1981.
Pictures from the SX-70, by contrast, ejected automatically and developed quickly (fully within 10 minutes) without chemical residue. Polaroid founder Edwin H Land announced the SX-70 at a company annual meeting in April 1972. On stage, he took out a folded SX-70 from his suit coat pocket and in ten seconds took five pictures, both actions impossible with previous Land Cameras.
There were a variety of models beginning in 1972 with the original SX-70, though all shared the same basic design. The first brown model 1 had a plain focussing screen (the user was expected to be able to see the difference between in- and out-of focus) because Dr. Land wanted to encourage photographers to think they were looking at the subject, rather than through a viewfinder.
POLAROID (1937-2001): Polaroid was an American company best known for its instant film and cameras. The company was founded in 1937 by Edwin H. Land, and he created the first instant camera, the
Land Camera, in 1948.
Polaroid film is extremely sensitive during the development process. The best way to protect your film is to immediately get it out of any light, even if its still under the frog tongue. Lots of people have a dark bag or keep the film box handy and as soon as the images are ejected, they put them directly in the dark somewhere and dont look at them until they are completely developed.
An instant photo camera is also called a Polaroid camera. These are small, compact devices that use a self-developing film to print out photos just as they are taken.
Polaroid had stopped manufacturing its instant cameras and also instant film in 2001. When the Polaroid Corporation was declared bankrupt in 2001 its brand and assets were sold off. A new Polaroid company formed after being sold to Polish billionaire Wlazeslaw Smolokowski in 2017. They have started producing instant films for older Polaroid cameras in 2008 and to rebrand the film as Polaroid film in 2020.
