The Chires Baby corn is also known as young corn or baby sweetcorn, we as South Africans call them Potjiekos Mielies.

It is eaten whole- including the soft cob,  it can be consumed raw, pickled and cooked.

Baby Corn ears are hand-picked just as the corn silks appear from the top of the spear, or just a few days later.  It matures rather quickly, so it needs to be harvested on a timely manner, to avoid ending up with more matures corn ears.

Baby Corn usually grow between 4.5cm 10cm in length, and 0.7-1.7cm in diameter.
