1 x small Amorphophallus konjac bulbs

Each bulb is between 14 mm and 25 mm (see second picture)

They are small so it will be 3 to 5 years before they flower

They will sprout a single leaf that will remain alive for 4 to 6 months before dying back and increasing its tuber size. Each year its tuber will more than double in size, and so will its subsequent leaf size

Plant in September to October 2026.

It will not grow anytime before September 2026. Do not attempt to force it; you will not be successful. It was removed from the ground in late March and will now remain dormant (as it is biologically programmed) for at least 5 months, often 6 months or more. Nothing except plant hormones will cause it to emerge before then

Plant Description
A truly bizarre and unforgettable plant, Amorphophallus konjac is famous for its enormous, foul-smelling flowers, one of the most unusual in the plant world. When mature, it produces a dramatic inflorescence consisting of a deep maroon to purple spathe surrounding a towering central spadix. At its peak, the flower emits a powerful odour often compared to rotting flesh, a clever adaptation that attracts carrion-loving insects for pollination. The scent is strongest during the first day or two of flowering and can easily fill a room or small garden space.

Before reaching flowering size, the plant produces a single, impressive leaf each season, held atop a thick, mottled stalk that resembles a small tree trunk. This lush, umbrella-like leaf can reach over a metre tall, giving the plant a tropical, architectural presence even when not in bloom. After the growing season, the plant dies back completely into its underground tuber, entering a dormant phase before re-emerging the following year.

Native to East Asia, this species thrives in warm, sheltered conditions and is ideal for container growing, where its extraordinary flowering event can be appreciatedand contained.
