A Cradle of Rivers takes the reader into some of the most remote regions of the Natal Drakensberg, a part of the great Drakensberg escarpment. The author, having led you there, proceeds to tell you how this mountain paradise became the home of the Bushmen, who hunted and painted their adventure stories on the rock walls of the caves in the valleys. When the black man arrived these valleys became the battleground of the tribes fighting for their survival. These victories and defeats were followed by periods of pillage, starvation and cannibalism.
