Cranberry Vase, 1900.

 

This is an absolutely divine Ruffled top Cranberry vase made in 1900.

 

Cranberry glass or 'Gold Ruby' glass is a red glass made by adding gold salts or colloidal gold to molten glass.

Cranberry glass is made in craft production rather than in large quantities because of the price of gold.

The marvellous glass is typically hand blown or moulded.

 

Legend holds that cranberry glass was first discovered when a noble tossed a gold coin into a mixture of molten glass.

 

Condition: small manufacturing error but besides that its basically flawless.
