Extremely Rare Vintage Item in MINT Condition.
The absolute "must-have" accessory for the most premium professional soundcard ever made. *Soundcard NOT included.
Who is this for?
For anyone who already owns 1 of the Creative cards listed further down below, and is looking to inject new life into, and upgrade to the full X-Fi experience with a premium feature-extended Analog and Digital IN-OUT Box with Remote Control and support for Studio Grade Headphones.
Condition: Have owned this for more than 15 years and can positively say that "condition" is as new, having spent 14.5 of those years tucked away in its original box. As can be seen by condition of the controller itself. I opted to use only the soundcard (not included) to save space on my desk. Have now tested and everything works 100%, as it should.
If you didn't already know: Your PCI soundcard is compatible with all windows versions and even PCIe-only motherboards - with a bridge/adapter, as can be seen from last image. So. Still very much in use. Not included. And not for sale, at ANY price.
Anyway. Below, have chose to pit the X-Fi Elite Pro Premium against the X-Fi Xtreme Music base model. The differences, while still there, won't be as significant with Creative's higher-tier X-Fi cards.
Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro vs
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music
Headphone Quality Advantage
Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC)
Premium, Higher-Spec DACs (often cited as Cirrus Logic CS4398, similar to EMU-1212M).
Standard DACs for the X-Fi line.
Elite Pro (Better signal fidelity and lower noise floor).
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
116 dB (Stereo/Headphone out)
109 dB (Multi-channel/Headphone out)
Elite Pro (A higher SNR means a quieter background and more dynamic range).
I/O Console Headphone Jack
Dedicated 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) jack on the external I/O Console with its own independent volume control.
Standard 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) jack on your sound card's rear bracket.
Elite Pro (Dedicated, higher-quality headphone amplifier section in the I/O console, better for driving higher-impedance headphones).
ASIO Support
Full ASIO 2.0 support (16/24-bit at 44.1/48/96kHz) with direct monitoring.
The following cards support the Elite Pro external I/O console. However, Creative also released versions of the following without an AD-EXT connector, CRUCIAL for this add-on to work. *In other words, if your card does indeed have this connector, you're all set and good to go.
X-Fi Elite Pro
SB055x
Supported YES, of course. (The I/O Console was included in your X-Fi Elite Pro retail box.) Perhaps you just need to replace your non-working I/O Console?
X-Fi Fatal1ty
SB046x (e.g., SB0466)
Supported YES, if connector is present. (Included its own, not as feature-rich Internal Drive or breakout box) Also known as Fatal1ty FPS or Platinum Fatal1ty Champion.
X-Fi Platinum
SB046x (e.g., SB0460)
Supported YES (Included its own similar-featured but not as cool Internal Drive) Pls confirm the AD-Ext connector is present.
X-Fi XtremeMusic
SB046x (e.g., SB0460)
Supported YES (If connector is present) This was the most "barebones" of the x-fi cards and this console add-on offers a substantially larger upgrade than for any of the other cards on this list.
X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro
SB046x (e.g., SB046A)
Supported YES (If Ad-Ext connector is present) This was essentially the Fatal1ty card without the bundled drive, so will also be a substantial upgrade.
