If you have wanted your child to learn how to care for a pet then take a look at these games.
Included are Creatures 1, Creatures 2, Dogz 3 and Creature Adventures.
Creatures 1 and 2 introduce you to the world of the Norns, artificial life forms that are in no way pre-programmed. Once hatched they develope their own unique personalities and you must teach them to talk, eat and survive illness, hunger and loneliness. Nature eventually takes over and through breeding you gain more Norns. If you bring in new breeds or trade with others on the net you may even create a new breed.
There are free downloads and patches available, which I will include, as well as new breeds. The downloads have been gathered from http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk/games_index.php and http://norngarden.albia2000.com/. The Docking Station, which is a whole new and free world to trade Norns, is not included and can be downloaded free from http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk/games_index.php.
Dogz 3 is an adoption and learn to look after program. You are given a selection of dogs to choose from and different areas to play in. Creatures Adventures is a simpler version of Norns and for the younger ones.
Please note: these games are intended for Windows 95 and 98, but Creatures 2 and Creature Adventures have been successfully loaded onto XP Home. Gameware Development provides patches for Creatures 1 to make it playable and that is included with the downloads. The downloads are included but you will need to read the instructions at http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk/games_index.php. The downloads are large in size so that will save you time on the net. I'm not sure of successful playing of Dogz 3.
I play these games myself because it is the closest to artificial intelligence as a child/adult can get.
All but Creatures 1 are brand new. Only Creatures 1 includes a physical manual, which is slightly damaged. All but Creatures 1 are in CD sleeves.
