You are bidding on a pair of fantastic cut and polished Ammonites from the Cretaceous period. Ammonites were snail-like marine animals that fed on plankton (tiny free-floating organisms), sea lilies, and smaller orthoceras.

The Cretaceous Period is one of the major divisions of the geologic timescale, reaching from the end of the Jurassic Period (i.e. from 145.5 million years ago) to the beginning of the Tertiary Period (about 65.5million years ago).

The Cretaceous period was the heyday of the dinosaurs. Huge carnivores like Tyrannosaurus rex appeared, as did Triceratops and many, many others.

There was a tremendous diversity in dinosaur species. Mammals were flourishing, and flowering plants developed and radically changed the landscape. The Cretaceous period ended 65 million years ago with the extinction of the dinosaurs and many, many other prehistoric life forms.

Please see following picture of this pair of exhibit quality cut and polished 100-million year old Ammonites.

I have five (5) of these pairs (colour may differ). You are bidding per pair…The first picture shows the size compared to a modern R5.
