Crinum bulbispermum (Orange River Lily)

Crinum bulbispermum the Orange River Lily, one of South Africa's best-known indigenous bulbs, and the floral emblem of the Free State. Large, funnel-shaped, sweetly scented flowers in shades of white to pale and dark pink, carried in clusters of 58 atop a thick, fleshy stalk, above graceful, arching, blue-grey-green leaves.

Full sun, plenty of water in spring and summer, kept on the drier side over its winter dormancy. Best planted somewhere it can stay undisturbed for years it forms handsome clumps over time and resents being moved. Frost hardy once established, and very drought tolerant once it's settled in. Excellent as a border or feature planting, in a large container, or next to a pond or water feature.

Note: like all Crinum, this bulb is toxic if ingested keep away from pets and children.
