Rolled gold is commonly used to make quality durable jewelery and provides an affordable alternative to solid gold. Rolled gold is made by fusing a base metal, usually silver, brass or copper between thin sheets of gold. The metals are then bonded together using heat and rolled into flat sheets for use.

The general rule is that the overall amount of gold used must be at least 5% of the total weight of the metal. In other words, the gold should be 1/20th of the total weight of the piece.
 
NOTE ROLLED GOLD IS NOT THE SAME AS GOLD PLATED AND HAS ABOUT 100 TIMES MORE GOLD THAN GOLD PLATE. GOLD PLATE USES VERY LITTLE SOLID GOLD IN ITS COMPOSITION.

CROSS PENS:
Cross Company is an American manufacturing company of writing implements. Founded in 1846, by Richard Cross who sailed from England to America is one of the oldest pen manufacturers in the world. Cross' products include fountain, ballpoint, and rollerball pens, mechanical pencils and refills. Cross has been an official supplier of pens to the USA Presidential White House since at least the 1970s. The pens used to sign legislation are often given out as souvenirs to those who attend the bill signings.

Any such product that is no longer in production and cannot be repaired will be replaced with a comparable Cross product.
