Description
A lovely vintage Crown Crystal uranium glass bowl with a strong, bright green glow under UV light. Crown Crystal (Australia) produced a range of pressed glass patterns during the earlymid 20th century, and this bowl shows the classic clarity, weight and detailed mould work associated with their pieces. It displays beautifully under UV and remains a great example of period vaseline glass.
Design features
The bowl has a scalloped rim, crisp pressed design, diamond-quilted inner wall and a well-defined starburst base. Under normal daylight it appears a gentle pale green, while under UV light it fluoresces vividly, confirming the uranium content typical of Crown Crystals decorative glassware.
Condition
Good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Only fine surface scratches from age and use. The rim is clean and the base shows normal expected wear.
