Cry Wolf - Wilbur Smith

Set in 1935 during the Italian invasion of Ethiopia (led by Mussolini's forces), the story follows two adventurersan American engineer named Jake Barton and a British aristocrat/hustler named Gareth Swales. They team up to smuggle five battered vintage Bentley cars (converted into makeshift armoured vehicles) into Ethiopia to aid the poorly equipped Ethiopian forces against the advancing Italian army.

Along the way, they encounter a beautiful American journalist, Victoria Chambers, and become entangled in high-stakes intrigue, battles, betrayal, and the brutal realities of war in East Africa.

The book blends classic Wilbur Smith elements: fast-paced action, vivid African settings, larger-than-life characters, and historical military conflict. It's one of his earlier standalone novels before the famous Courtney and Ballantyne series became dominant.

Some little tears/stains to the dust cover. Some pen writing on the 1st page. A few of the pages have moth damage (hence the reduced price), but it's on the periphery and doesn't affect the content. Please see photos.
