It works with a molecular sieve desiccant. They are in the form of beads that have a crystalline structure, more specifically, they are made of crystalline aluminosilicate. Because of the uniformity of their structure, they do not let out the moisture back into the machine. The molecular sieve desiccant works by selectively absorbing molecules based on size through their intricate network of tiny pores. They have a crystalline structure with uniform pores that allow smaller water molecules to enter and adhere to the pore surfaces, while larger molecules are excluded. This selective absorption makes them highly effective for drying liquids and can be regenerated by heating to release the absorbed molecules.
Molecular sieves are particularly effective at removing water because water molecules are polar and are strongly attracted to the polar surfaces of the pores.
Regeneration: Once the pores are filled with adsorbed molecules, the desorption fan heats the desiccant to high temperatures to release the absorbed moisture. This releases the adsorbed molecules, allowing the sieve to be reused, thus maintaining its effectiveness in drying air.
The desiccant rotor is a cylinder with a honeycomb structure, coated with the desiccant material as described above. As humid air passes through the desiccant rotor, the desiccant material attracts and absorbs water molecules.
The Synchronous Motor rotates the desiccant rotor continuously, bringing the desiccant beads that are now saturated with water into a stream of heated air. The desorption fan blows hot air throught the desiccant material, releasing the absorbed moisture as warm dry air through the desiccant material, releasing the absorbed moisture as warm dry air, back into the atmosphere. This continuous cycle of absorption and reactivation allows the desiccant rotor to dehumidify the air continuously.
