The Ashley Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) is an early variety and a well-known heirloom open-pollinated cucumber. It was developed in the 1950s by the South Carolina Truck Experiment Station to withstand the hot, humid Summers.
The Ashley Cucumber is resistant to powdery mildew, diseases, and other problems generally caused by humid conditions. It is darker than other cultivars and produces excellent yields of 20-30cm long. It is a very crisp slicing cucumber which makes this variety ideal for salad and sandwiches.
