GUY LONGMORE

I started painting at school in the early eighties and won the senior art prize in matric. Leaving it for seventeen years and then picking up the brush nine years ago. My styles vary as I explore different techniques and application, working in oils and acrylic. I like dramatic lighting, going for long shadows, intense highlights and contrasting colour. You will find my work ranging from realism to expressionistic to everything in between, depending on my mood. I studied foundations in fine art and won a diploma in Interior Design at Durban Technikon, now called Durban University of Technology, enjoying both design and fine art.

I have done two small solo exhibitions, one at Butterflies for Africa in Pietermaritzburg in 2006 and one at Bean Bag Bohemia in Florida Road, Durban. I'm working on a new exhibition called New Wine, exploring hand gestures. My hand paintings are conceptional and I have a few examples for your perusal.
