There are a few scuff marks on the slip cover as per the photo. Other than this, the book is in excellent condition.
English version. Description taken from cycad palm.com website:
"This excellent book, by Nat Grobbelaar, a Botany Professor Emeritus, focuses on the cycads of southern Africa, including Encephalartos and Stangeria. Grobbelaar has many decades of experience studying, growing and visiting cycads in habitat, and this book is the result of his many years of successful propagation and research.
This book contains significantly more information on taxonomy and growing cycads than other books have, including excellent and detailed photos of cones, scales, leaves and leaflets, and mature adult plants, both in cultivation and in habitat. Having visited his garden just recently (February 2003), I can testify to the high quality of his propagation methods, and his taxonomic excellence.
The book covers general cycad morphology (leaves, stem, comes, seeds), reproduction and propagation (including such topics as wet and dry pollination, seed germination, and offset and leaf base propagation), general information regarding growing cycads (light, soil, water, pH, and transplanting), and numerous other aspects of cycads (including maturity, age determination, and toxicity). It also contains a thorough identification and discussion of southern African cycad species. The book concludes with an extensive bibliography.
This book is only printing a limited number of English language copies, and I believe it will be available for only a limited time, so I encourage any serious cycad collectors to benefit from Prof. Nat's knowledge, shared with us in these pages."
