This is really a stunning piece of art.
Condition: The condition of this figurine is superb, without any chips, cracks or scratches. Allowances have to be made as the individual piece has been hand painted and hand finished.
History: The Last Supper is a timeless image of one of the most climactic moments of Jesus' life. In 1495, Leonardo da Vinci (meaning "Leonardo from Vinci), began what would become one of history's most influential works of art - The Last Supper, which is Leonardo's visual interpretation of an event chronicled in all four Gospels. The evening before Jesus was betrayed, he gathered his disciples together for the Passover feast and told them that he knew what was coming and washed their feet, which is a gesture symbolizing that all are equal under the eyes of the Lord. As they ate and drank together, Jesus gave the disciples explicit instructions on how to eat and drink in the future, in remembrance of him. This was the first celebration of the Christian Eucharist, a ritual that is still performed today. Specifically, The Last Supper depicts the moments after Jesus revealed that one disciple would betray him, and the reaction of different degrees of horror, anger and shock by the disciples.
