At 12.5 grams, this medal, struck in a white metal, is heavier than a Two-Shilling piece. Danie Craven or “Doc” as he was affectionately known is perhaps the most well known rugby personality of late in South Africa.

The date of 1933 on the reverse probably refers to his rugby playing years as a Springbok.
