A veteran of five European Ryder Cup teams and the holder of 19 victories worldwide, Clarke is one of the most popular professionals on tour and a regular visitor to South African fairways. In 2000 he beat Tiger Woods in the final of the WGC–Andersen Consulting Match Play Championship. His best finishes in the Majors includes tied second in The Open Championship in 1997, tied eighth in The Masters in 1998, tied tenth in the US Open in 1999, and tied ninth in the PGA Championship in 2000.
