Hardcover 270 mm x 210 mm published Kaapstad: J.C. Juta 1884. Original pictorial cloth with gilt titling and decorations. The front cover of this book was detached, and has been professionally re-attached. Two new endpapers have been inserted, the first matching the pattern of the original of the front pastedown, but with a slight variation in colour. The reverse of the frontispiece portrait page of Professor Murray has the decorative details of the presumed first owner, handwritten and dated 1891. A 25 page memorial tribute to Professor Murray follows, by Professor N.J. Hofmeyer. All original rear endpapers, some scattered light foxing throughout.  Illustrated with four woodcuts and 25 chromo-lithographic plates.
